The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. Jesus the Christed, Matthew 6:22
We are deep in the Christmas season! Although this isn’t really when Jesus was born, it is the time when Christians celebrate his birth. So what a perfect time to talk about birthing the Christ ~ within ourselves.
Today I’m gonna to talk about Jesus. The Christed. The J.C! But I am going to talk about him in an esoteric, holistic way that transcends the doctrine of Christianity. In my opinion, no matter what ‘religion’ you are, or are not, Jesus is a way-shower. And I would argue that his power and magnificence have been diminished by dogma and narrow interpretations of the religion founded in his name.
The majority of Christians want to reserve the title of “Christ” for Jesus of Nazareth alone. Most of us have been told we should strive to be like, but we cannot really be like Jesus. He was special because he was God and you are not. It is a convenient deception, told to keep you powerless and controlled. Plus, it contradicts everything Jesus said and did during his ministry.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do. . . . John 14:12
Yes, Jesus spent his ministry trying to awaken us to the nature of our incarnation, not his.
I am a Jesus-freak since the way-back, and I could go on for DAYS about him and all his mystic bad-assery. But today I am specifically going to talk about what he meant by ‘thine eye be single.’ It will include symbolism and connections to Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, India… all around Jesus, activating the Third Eye and birthing the Christ in YOU.
This is a bit stream-of-conscious, and I tried to build one thing upon another to give you a bigger picture, so hold onto your socks!
THINE EYE BE SINGLE
When Jesus said, “If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light,” he is not speaking of our physical eyes. He is speaking of the spiritual, third eye.
Yogis and gurus will tell you that the third eye is in the forehead. I know this is bold to say, but I feel this is a simplification and incomplete. While there is a powerful chakra located within the inner part of the forehead, it is only a part of the picture.
I know, really? Thousands of years of mystics and teachers, and this broad in California is saying “WRONG!”
First, about those chakras
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel.’ There are 7 primary chakras in the body. They align along the spine through the center of the body.
If you were to look at a person standing in front of you with your energetic/clairvoyant sight, you would see that they look like ‘wheels.’
But if you were to look at a person in profile you would see that they are vortices that project outward, forward and back ~ except in the case of the 7th chakra, which faces up, channeling in life force energy, and the 1st, which faces down, releasing energy.
Each chakra is associated with and vitalizes specific organs and glands.
Today I am going to talk about the 6th and 7th Chakras, which are associated with the pituitary and pineal glands, respectively.
THE SIXTH CHAKRA & THE PITUITARY GLAND
The sixth chakra is often called the Third Eye. It sits in the brain where the pea-size pituitary gland sits. The pituitary is known as the master gland because it acts as a main control center for the proper growth of glands and organs and regulating sexual development. It is called the “seat of the mind,” and is known as the gland of reason.
The vortex of the 6th Chakra projects out through the center of the forehead. The reason I think people believe it is the third eye, is because it is in close proximity to the physical eyes and when we utilize our 6th chakra we access our clairvoyance; clear, spiritual vision.
When I do psychic, intuitive readings, I specifically use this chakra to access my clairvoyant abilities, so I can ‘see’ information about my client. Through clairvoyance you can see energy, colors, illnesses in the body, ‘movies’ of events that have happened in their life, pictures of things they are holding in their space, relatives and loved ones who have crossed over, etc.
This is powerful stuff! But it is not the Third Eye. It is just the 6th Chakra and the skill of clairvoyance.
The 7th CHAKRA & THE PINEAL GLAND
The pineal gland is rice-sized, pinecone-shaped gland located in the middle of the brain behind and just above the pituitary gland. I call this space ‘the center of your head’ during my meditations.
The pineal gland is known as the “seat of the soul.” It is the gland of illumination, intuition and cosmic consciousness, and although many believe it is associated with the 6th Chakra, it is not. It is associated with the 7th Chakra ~ the Crown Chakra, your halo.
The pineal gland contains pigment similar to what is in our eyes and is connected to the optic thalami. It is linked to the body’s perception of light and regulates the action of light upon the body. When it is dark it produces melatonin.
How you think and feel every day depends on the pineal gland and the hormone melatonin. Melatonin regulates the quality and duration of your sleep and is believed to strengthen our immune system, reduce stress and retard the aging process. Low melatonin levels are found in depression and higher levels are found in manic states.
It is probably because of its connection to the optical nerves and light, that it has been called the Third Eye. But, again, it is really only one part of the Third Eye equation. An important part, but still only a part.
Once activated and tuned to the proper frequencies, the pineal gland enables you to lucid dream, astral travel, and travel into other dimensions. It is also known to increase dream recall and psychic abilities.
THE PINEAL AND THE PINE CONE
You may be familiar with the pine cone being used symbolically in spiritual and religious art. The pine cone is a symbolic reference to the pineal gland. Christians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Babylonians and more all used the pine cone as a symbol for the pineal gland and also knew the power and benefits of activating it.
SYMBOLIC APPLICATIONS OF THE PINE CONE
This is Marduk, a god worshipped in 1800 BC, by the Babylonians in Mesopotamia. He is not only holding a pine cone he is using it, directing it.
This is the Pigna sculpture. It is the largest pine cone statue in the world. The bronze sculpture is three stories tall. Legend has it that the sculpture originally stood on top of the Pantheon. It was then brought to Rome where it was a water fountain next to the Temple of Isis. Now it sits in front of the Vatican in a courtyard called the Court of the Pine Cone.
The Pope carries a staff, with a crucified Jesus arising out of a pine cone.
Here is another image of the Pope’s staff. Also notice the pine cones on his chest plate and that the shape of his ‘crown’ resembles a pine cone as well. The pine cones on his chest are pointed forward, the way the pineal sits in the brain. That there are three is symbolic for other reasons.
And then there’s the Greeks
These are ancient depictions of the Greek God, Dionysus, carrying a staff topped with a pine cone.
Even Plato had something to say about the Eye of the Soul ~ 400 years before Jesus.
“..en every man there is an Eye of the soul which…it is far more precious than ten thousand bodily eyes, for by it alone truth is seen…”
How ‘bout them Egyptians…
The Egyptian Staff of Osiris, with it’s two cobras rising to meet at the pine cone, dates back to 1224 BC.
That should really look familiar!
INDIA & THE kundalini
Look at how the pine cone and this staff is present throughout history and in so many cultures. You think there must be some pretty powerful wisdom in there.
Now look at how it parallels the Kundalini.
See how the masculine/dynamic/Adam energy snakes up one side, and the feminine/magnetic/Eve energy snakes up the other? They spiral up and around and through our chakras, meeting at the 6th and 7th, activating the pineal and pituitary glands. That activation opens the Third Eye to the heavens.
Is this imagery symbolic of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden? Is the pine cone the fruit of that tree? Genesis 2:16-17
THE PINEAL & THE BIBLE
The pineal is first referenced in the Genesis, in the story of Jacob wrestling with God.
In Genesis 32:22-31, Jacob is returning to the land God promised Abraham. At one point, Jacob sends his family on ahead while he stays behind…alone.
That night, a mysterious man comes to Jacob and they wrestle all night. At one point the man dislocates Jacob’s hip, but Jacob continues the wrestling match. In the morning, when the man tries to leave, Jacob won’t let him until the man blesses him.
The man tells Jacob “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” Gen 32:28
And then in Gen 32:30, “Jacob called the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”
THE REAL THIRD EYE
The Third Eye is also known as the Middle Eye of Shiva, the Horn of the Unicorn, and the Eye of Horus. In early Egypt, the Temple of Maat was dedicated completely to the process of opening the Eye of Horus.
This is the Eye of Horus:
This is your brain and the Eye of Horus
That shit blows my mind every time!
I believe that the Third Eye is actually this whole part of the brain. Through meditation, we are able to activate our Kundalini, activate our pineal and pituitary glands and open the whole Third Eye toward the heavens, and the divine.
Yogis call this spiritual state Samadhi.
There are many levels of samadhi. I believe this is because you have to ‘work’ your way up through meditation to reach the higher and higher states of consciousness. In savikalpa samadhi, for a short period of time you lose all human consciousness. In this state, your conception of time and space is altogether different. Thoughts and ideas come from various places, but they do not affect you, you remain undisturbed.
With practice you may move a little higher, into nirvikalpa samadhi, and become one with the soul. In this state there are no thoughts or ideas at all. There are not even words you can use to express it.
I experienced this state once. I remember going in, and I remember coming out, but I don’t have words to describe being in it, I just knew I didn’t want to leave and I wept as I came back down into normal consciousness.
It was bliss ~ an all-pervading, oneness. It is truly beyond words, and my memory can’t even help me relive it.
Some yogis enter into this space and find it impossible to be back in the world and be a normal human being. It is difficult to function in the world when you reach that state of consciousness.
But it is not impossible.
sahaja samadhi ~ Christ Consciousness
Certain individuals can reach that dynamic, divine consciousness and return to the earth-plane to act. The highest form of samadhi and consciousness is sahaja samadhi. One who has achieved this, can be in this state of consciousness and, at the same time, work in the 3D physical world.
One has become the soul, merged with the divine, become one with the “father” and, at the same time, can use the body as a perfect instrument.
The BRAIN AND SAMADHI
So the pituitary and 6th chakra gives you a spiritual vision around 3D life, and the 7th chakra allows you to access the portal to the Kingdom of God.
When we meditate upon the 6th and 7th Chakras, we stimulate the pituitary and pineal glands. And when the essences of the pituitary, the pineal fuse in the third ventricle of the brain, there is a union of spirit into matter, and the true Third Eye opens. The multidimensional forces of light merge with the physical matter of our brain.
JESUS AND INDIA
So why on earth am I bringing up all this Hinduism, and talk of chakras and samadhi in a blog post about Jesus?
Well, that is because I believe, as do many scholars and religious leaders, that when Jesus disappears from the Bible for 18 years, he travelled to the east, to the lands of the Magi, and this included India.
Say what??!! You didn’t know Jesus went missing?
Why yes! In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is 12 at the Temple in Jerusalem and the nothing, nada, zip… until he shows up to be baptized by John at age 30.
Fundamentalist Christianity explains it as ‘God didn’t think this was important so didn’t put it in the Bible.’ But really, if we are truly Jesus-freaks, this is gap is intriguing.
BECOMING THE CHRISTED
To attain the Creator, Krishna tells us, in this passage the yogi must completely penetrate his life force through the single or spiritual eye. The Bhagavad Gita VIII: 9-10
So, Jesus, by taking his consciousness through the single, spiritual eye, entered a reality where his physical body became divine light, bringing into flesh the Infinite Christ and God.
This became complete at his baptism.
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 3:21-22
Immediately following his baptism, Jesus spends 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness, then begins his ministry.
WHEW! What was that all about!?
So here we are.
My intention with this post was to give you a bigger picture on Jesus, Christ-Consciousness, and YOU.
I am hoping you can see the deep interrelationship of all religions and spirituality. Religious leaders and followers like to think their doctrine is the way, and do not open themselves up to the bigger picture. Each religion is a way, a valid way to finding union with the divine. But maybe if you are in one way of theology, you can look at another way, and “love your brother as you love yourself.”
And my bigger reason for writing this long-ass post, was for you to see my main man, Jesus, in a broader sense this holiday season. Whether you are a Christian or not.
Jesus told us that “the Kingdom of God is within,” because he understood the workings of the spiritual body. He wanted us to understand that we could really follow him, make our own eye single and access our unlimited power; the power to be CHRISTED.
Happy Holy Days!
